Dinner with the Fam

Last weekend we went to dinner with my brother and sister and their families. You would think since we only live an hour apart that we could make this work more often, but unfortunately we have not done this in awhile. So, it was time for a family gathering. We went out to eat at Applebee's. I found it funny that I heard a few comments here and there about all the kids at the table. I guess to the outsider when the kids outnumber the adults 8 to 6, you might think it is a little crazy. However, the kiddos all did great. There were of course the 3 trips to the bathroom (and when one has to go, they all have to go), but seriously, they all sat really well. Our food took a long time and they were pretty patient. While we ate, we got to take in the Twins vs. Brewers game and also just catch up. When we left the restaurant, there were some severe storms and my sister's house had some major damage with trees being uprooted  and hail damage. Thankfully no one was hurt, but they had a lot of clean up.

On another random note, I feel like I have not given much of an update about what our girls are up to these days. So here is an update :
Kelsey is more and more independent everyday. She loves doing puzzles right now and completes them with little to no help. She really likes playing the game Guess Who. She does well and when it gets down to the last person she spells the name to guess. She is very interested in adding. She wants to know what the answer is to ___+___. She gets frustrated easily at times and wants things to be perfect. We have to remind that she just needs to keep trying, especially when it comes to making her letters and numbers. She actually does really well for a 3 year old, but she wants everything to be perfect. Finally, she is very imaginative. A few nights ago we were outside and she had a baton in her hands and I had a bucket. I had to march behind her as she moved the baton up and down. She also had Matt and I playing the bucket and using her tee as a guitar while she sang. Oh what the neighbors must think. Oh, and she is getting good at saying the Our Father. We try to practice it a few times a week and her memory is amazing. Love this girl!

Megan wants to do everything and anything that Kelsey is. When Kelsey gets out her stroller, you can be sure Megan is close behind pushing her own stroller or waiting for the ideal moment to grab Kelsey's stroller and run. She says the words mama, dada, hi, and has recently added nana for banana, ba for ball, and baba for baby. She follows multi-step directions and comprehends so much of what we say. She likes to get a toy or a book and then backs up to sit in our laps. She loves sitting in her little princess chair and although it is Kelsey's chair, she thinks she owns it and will do her best to nuzzle into it any second she can. When we ask her if she wants to go outside, she walks to the door and picks up her shoes. She likes playing outside. She usually has mismatched toys like a golf club and a tee or a soccer ball and a butterfly net, but she could care less. She is happy as a lark out there. She likes to play on the mini slide in the backyard and when I tell her it is time to go inside, she high tails it the other direction. When it is bedtime, she is a cuddler. I am in no hurry to rush her out of this stage. There is something so sweet and innocent about holding a sleeping baby. She also started this thing where she covers her mouth when she is laughing hard. It is adorable.  Megan has 8 teeth, and I think a few more on the way with the way she sucks on her hands or nuk lately. Her hair is still very fine and short, but it is long enough that I brush it after her bath now and there is a little hint of a curl in the back. Love this baby girl!
