Father's Day Weekend

We went to visit my dad and Chris over the weekend. Our first item of business was going to see Madagascar 3. It was pretty cute. Kelsey really liked it. Next up, we went to Sammy's for pizza. It is one of my family's favorite restaurants. The pizza did not disappoint! When we got back to my dad's, the girls played in the backyard while we enjoyed the gorgeous evening. On Saturday, Kelsey and Grandpa made pancakes for breakfast before we went to the park to play.

After all of that playing, we just had to go to the bakery and get doughnuts. I even got to indulge in my favorite paczkis!

 Later, we went to a "Christmas in June" with my dad's side. All 6 of my dad's siblings were together in what seems like a very long time. It was good to catch up with some of my relatives that we only see a few times a year.

To round out the day, our dear friends Paul and Mary came over later. My dad bought me a birthday cake and we celebrated my upcoming birthday. Kelsey loves playing with Mary and they colored, played the LeapPad, and looked at books. Kelsey also gave us a performance while singing and dancing to her Disney Princess sing along DVD. Lastly, Kelsey played Farkle with Grandpa and Grandma.

When Sunday arrived, we headed to Hofa Park to celebrate Father's Day at a church picnic. I grew up going to this picnic and it has a lot of meaning to me. We had the family style dinner and it was so good! Everything is made from scratch and absolutely delicious! The girls played cherry tree and the duck fishing game. Plus, there was live polka music. I was able to see my friend Amber and meet her new little man, Zander. I also got to visit with my aunt and uncle and cousins.

As for it being father's day, I was lucky enough to get to spend time with my amazing father. He is an incredible man who I look up to and admire. He is a terrific grandpa to our girls, and I love him dearly.

 To the father of my girls: Mattey, you are so special and one of a kind. Our girls are blessed to have you as their daddy. They absolutely adore you. Megan is a big time daddy's girl right now, and Kelsey always wants to be with her daddy, too. The way they light up around you is so sweet. We all love you very much and are thankful to have you in our lives. You are an incredible father and husband!

My Little Sporter and Safety Fair

Kelsey has been going to sports camp one night a week for 50 minutes for the past few weeks. This past week, she began an additional four day camp that went from 8:30-12:00. It was the first camp that she has been in where I had to drop her off and leave her. Kelsey is not shy and I knew she would be fine, but being the nervous nelly I am, I stuck around for awhile after I dropped her off the first day. I brought a good book and thought I would just sit in the car and read in case she needed me or had a hard time with me leaving. After about 30 minutes of watching how great she was interacting with the other kids and the teachers, I decided to "cut the cord" as they say and leave her. Sure enough, she made it out in one happy piece :) I guess she actually commented at one point to the teacher, "Why is my mom still here?" So needless to say, the other days I dropped her off and went back to pick her up when it was done. They played soccer, volleyball, kickball, basketball, baseball, went to the park, made jerseys, and made crafts. She had a fun time and it was good for her (and  me). She also had her one night a week camp last week and she had a cheering section. Aunt Stacey and the boys and Grandma and Grandpa came to watch her do track and field. While Kelsey was busy running and jumping, Megan was busy hugging her cousins. She did hug Lucas too, but I missed it.

After sports camp, we went to the the safety fair. Kelsey got to sit in a police car and the Mayo One helicopter. She wanted to sit in the helicopter just long enough to get a picture. I have to admit, the thing gives me the willies because I think about how it is used when someone is in a really bad situation. We watched the helicopter take off and leave afterward.

15 months

Miss Megan is 15 months! It is so fun to watch all the new things she is learning. So what's new with the little peanut? She now points to her head, eyes, nose, belly, toes, ears, and tongue. She has the cutest little dance move of waving her arms and spinning in circles. She likes to sit in her princess chair and read her books. She has become a climber, too! She can pull herself up onto the couch and likes to look out the window. She also ventures down the stairs. She is not the best at it though and needs one of us to be by her when she is going up or down. Her favorite toy is probably still her Little People barn. When we are watering flowers, she grabs her own can and waters with us. She loves being outside and does not like coming in. She tries to put on her own shoes and knows when it is time to go out. If Kelsey is doing something, you can be pretty sure her little sidekick is usually right there with her. They play so well together. When you tell Megan it is time for night night, she goes to get her blanket and asks for her nuk (na-na) and then lays down and closes her eyes. She does still like to be rocked before bed and I gladly accept :) She went to the doctor today and weighs 18lbs. 5oz  (1%) and is 30.5in (43%). Our little peanut...grow little one! She is getting her molars and wouldn't you know she has an ear infection. (Hello amoxicillan, I have not missed you. Please do your job and be on your way thank you very much!) Between checking her sore ears, sore mouth for teeth, and getting 2 shots, Megan was one unhappy baby when we left the doctor's office. Big sister was a sweet helper and kept telling her it would be ok. And both girls zonked out in the car on the way home making for a very quiet afternoon.

Schoooool's Out for Summer :)

I am one happy lady as I type this post because summer vacation has officially begun! After a day of cleaning my classroom and getting things somewhat organized at school, my teacher mode has hit snooze for awhile. Mattey has one more day of finishing up at school and then he will join in on the celebration. I love my job, I truly do. However, getting to be home with my hubby and kiddos all summer is amazing. It is so cool that Mattey and I get to share this time with our girls and each other. We have quite the list of fun activities planned, as well as a to do list of odds and ends that need to get taken care of around our house. Item #1 tomorrow is going to the library for the summer reading kick-off. Ahhhhhh...the joys of summer :) Bring it on!

Morning car ride chat

On the way to Mary's yesterday, the conversation went like this:

Kelsey: Remember that time I threw up everywhere. I hope that never happens again.

(Insert side note: In case you need a little refresher, it was NOT a pretty sight. It was a night from somewhere I hope we never return. Anyway, back to the car ride.)

Me: I know. It was not fun a night. But unfortunately, it will happen again someday. It just happens sometimes when you get sick. Daddy, Megan , and I will all have it happen, too.

Kelsey: Then I'll have to be the mommy and take care of you guys.

Sporter

Kelsey started sports camp last night. She had to wear her Nike shirt and put on her head wrap. She refers to herself as a sporter when she has her gear on ;) She worked on soccer skills last night. She would run over between stations and say it was so fun. She did great! She is also in another sports camp in a few weeks. She will have many opportunities to dress like a sporter this summer!
