We All Got It

As a follow up to the previous post, we all ended up getting sick :( Matt stayed home with the girls last Friday. Kelsey seemed to be better after about 24 hours. I went to school on Friday and came home feeling sick. That evening I went to bed early and slept a ton. On Saturday we were all pretty good. The girls and I ran some errands, had lunch with Mattey at a baseball team picnic, and stayed busy with house stuff. But by Sunday afternoon, we were all headed down. So the rest of Sunday and Monday were pretty miserable around here. Kelsey, Matt, and I are all doing better now, but Megs still has something going on with nasty diapers, a cough, and a really runny nose. Let's hope she gets over it soon and we can be done with that because we are all sick of being sick.

A Night We Hope Not to Repeat

I picked up Kelsey from Mary's yesterday and she said her belly hurt, but she didn't go on about it at all. During supper, she once again said her tummy hurt, but this mommy kind of blew it off as Kelsey not wanting to eat. We went on about our night and I gave the girls a bath. Thank goodness Matt had come home from baseball just in time to join in all the festivities. I got Megan out of the bath and Matt got her in her jammies. She was ready for bed. I scrubbed up Kelsey and got her out of the bath and Matt was holding her in the living room about to put on lotion when it happened. Kelsey said, " My tummy really hurts!" And without getting into too many gross details, she covered both herself and Matt while throwing up. In the meantime, Matt is yelling, "Help, get me something." So, I put Megan in her high chair because I don't want her to be on the floor which is completely covered as well. Megan did not like this at all and of course let us know by crying so hard that it made my heart break. Matt had made his way with Kelsey to the shower where he was going to attempt to wash both himself and Kelsey. However, while turning on the shower, the shower head broke. Seriously, at that moment in time, the shower head busted off and was spewing water all over. So onto Plan B--um, there is no Plan B. They had to shower with the water blasting everywhere. I am not one for cleaning up that kind of mess and so now I was gagging like crazy because I couldn't stand the smell, the everything and I wanted to try to salvage our carpet. Unfortunately, it has a stain that we cannot get out. We used all the carpet cleaner we had left, but it won't come out. Kelsey proceeded to throw up 5 more times throughout the next 5 hours. Somehow I did manage to get Megan to sleep so at least she was away from the mess. Poor Kelsey was awesome through all of it. Well, as awesome as you can be anyway. She and Daddy slept on the couch and she woke up feeling much better. Unfortunately, Megan got a little touch of it and tonight I am not feeling the best. Will Mattey be next? I hope not! But by the way, thank goodness he was able to jump right into action and take over because I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to chaos like that. Megan's Year in Review

Here is a look back at the past year for Megan. My hope is to create a photo book for the girls each year as a replacement for scrapbooking. I just can't seem to keep up and this seems to take care of highlighting the year in review for the girls and still gives a "scrapbook" kind of feel. Enjoy!

Baseball Season is Here!

Matt started baseball this week. He has had morning and afternoon practices which makes for a long week. Kelsey has been missing him already because she asks when he will be home from the minute he leaves. When he returns from practice he barely gets in the door before Kelsey wants to tell him every detail from her day. Baseball season means a busy day for this mama. However, Kelsey does a great job of helping out to make things easier. For example, one of Kelsey's new things is buckling herself up in the car. She gets in and buckles and then I check her once I have Megan buckled in.

We have been having such amazing weather that we have been outside a lot. Our neighbors put up their trampoline and they are gracious enough to let Kelsey and Megan use it whenever they want. The other night Kelsey wanted to jump all night and it took some definite convincing to get her to come inside. The girls and I have been going for walks too, and the girlies are awesome while we walk. Kelsey usually chats about everything, sings a few songs, and Megan jut chills and enjoys the ride. We have walked to The Ginkseys and also watched some baseball already. Matt also got the bikes down and we went for a bike ride. It was the girls first time riding in the burley together. It makes me very excited for summer break.
 
Kelsey has been a really good helper with Megan, too. Megan is Kelsey's shadow most of the time. Kelsey just lets her follow her and is usually pretty sweet about it. As for Megan, she is doing new things all the time, too! She shakes her head no and is able to point at what she wants now. She also follows 1-2 step directions pretty well. The other day I asked her if she wanted her milk and she responded "yeah." Kelsey and I laughed about it because it came out clear as day. However, I am not convinced she truly knows the word or if it is fluke because I have not heard that again. Here she is waving at me and saying hi :)

Nothing says warm weather like a DQ blizzard

Kelsey is becoming the weather girl around here. She lets us know if it is sunny or overcast. I think it is funny that she says overcast and not cloudy. She is getting to be such a big girl. Last night we got to watch a movie before bed and The Wizard of Oz was on TV. I thought we would try it to see what she thought. Much to my surprise, she liked it. She got more of it than I thought she would and refers to it as The Lizard of Oz. hehe! Here she is posing for us. She loves getting her picture taken!

Weekend Review

Megan had her 1 year check-up on Friday afternoon. She weighs 16lbs. 6oz. and is not even the 1% anymore for weight. Everything else checked out fine. She is 20% for height and head. Our doctor didn't seem to too worried that she is so small. She did gain a pound since her 9 month check and has been crawling and walking a lot more since then, so she is burning more calories. We just need to be sure she is eating enough and we will see what her 15 month check brings. She started off a peanut and is staying true to that for now. She did get 3 shots and had to have her hemoglobin and lead levels checked with a blood test. Both came back fine. Kelsey's eat infection from the past week also was gone. Thank goodness too because giving her medicine in the morning was not a pretty picture. After the doctor, we went out for pizza with some friends. After dinner we went to a carnival at my school. Kelsey and her friend Ava had fun playing games. I was pretty tired by the time we got home from all the hubbub of the day. Saturday morning we had pictures for the girls. The timing didn't work out the greatest because Megan's doctor appt was rescheduled for the day before and I didn't put two and two together that the immunizations might affect her. I figured she is a smiley kid, and it would all work. Not so much :( Megan wanted absolutely nothing to do with getting her picture taken. She would see the camera and push it away. Kelsey on the other hand was hamming it up big time and I know we got some great shots of her. Our photographer knew I was disappointed, so she told us to come back on Sunday to see if we could get a few more family pics, shots of Megan, and shots of the girls together. Following picture fiasco day #1, we came home and vegged for awhile. Kelsey, Megan, and I napped (which was awesome!). Megan seemed to get better as the day went on, enough that she went to Grandma and Grandpa's house so Matt, Kelsey, and I could go see The Lorax. Kelsey has not been to a movie since her first one when we saw Tangled. She was great during the movie! A few times she seemed a little lost so I would try to fill her in on what was happening. She leaned over once and said," This movie is actually pretty good. Maybe we can buy it when it comes out." After the movie, we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's to hang out for a bit before calling it a night. Sunday morning felt like the movie Groundhog's Day because we got ready again, put on the same clothes, and went back to the photographer's house. Megan was in a better mood, but as soon as she saw the camera, she wanted nothing to do with it again. We did get maybe a couple of shots of her, but nothing at all like I hoped for. It is strange because Megan is such an easy going, smiley girl. I would not have suspected that to happen. I definitely left a little sad. It is supposed to be nice out this week, so I am hoping to try to take a few more pictures on my own in the nice weather. I think the mixture of getting shots, having a little cold, and cutting a few more teeth equaled picture fiasco day #2. Let's see if the 3rd time is a charm.

In Like a Lamb

March has sure come in like a lamb. It was 64 degrees yesterday! We played outside after I picked up the girls. There was a breeze, so we still needed sweatshirts and hoods, but we did not complain! Kelsey colored with sidewalk chalk, rode her bike, and went for a wagon ride with Megan. There has been a lot of sickness going around (Kelsey has an ear infection, too) so the fresh air felt great! It was back to 35 degrees today, but just the taste of spring was much appreciated! It sure does give me spring fever! Bring on warmer weather :)

Happy Birthday, Megan!

Our dear, sweet Megan turned 1 today! The past year has been an incredible blessing for our family. Megan arrived at 10:46am last year after a very short labor of only 4 hours 46 minutes. She came out tiny at a whopping 5lbs. 11oz. 18 1/2 inches long. We instantly fell in love with her and that love has grown more and more each day. We've come a long way since that day. Megan is walking everywhere. She has caught on to keeping her balance and now she walks all over. She loves eating what we do and turns away from baby food a lot. I worry about her getting enough to eat, so I have to trick her with a bite of our food and then a bite of baby food just until she gains a little more weight. She is probably only about 16lbs. We will get the official weight when she goes for her 1 year check-up. I love how Megan seems to understand so much of what we tell her now. I can ask her give me things and she responds. She gives fives, still loves to give slobbery, wet kisses, plays peekaboo, loves to play with my Willow Tree angels (which are all starting to find new homes on higher shelves), likes pretending to brush her hair, wants to do whatever Kelsey is doing at the exact same time as Kelsey (thank goodness Kelsey is pretty good about it), loves phones, likes splashing in the bathtub, dances to music, is a cuddle bug, claps when we pray, does not like the word no, and likes to be chased and try to get away by walking or crawling as fast her little legs will carry her.
To celebrate, we had a ladybug party yesterday. We had a picnic style meal to begin the par-tay. Next up, we opened Megan's gifts. She received some adorable clothes for the spring/summer, toys, books, a necklace, and money. Next up, we played some games which included musical ladybugs, the chair dice roll game(which was a hit!), pin the spot on the ladybug, toss the ladybug into the net, and a puzzle relay. The kids were good sports, along with a few adults :)

We then sang Happy Birthday to Megan and Matt's grandpa who was 89 yesterday. We were SO happy that Great-Grandpa was able to make it! Following cake, the boys played Smear which is Great-Grandpa's favorite, and the rest of us relaxed, played, supervised, napped, cuddled. Later on, we celebrated Dave's birthday as well with grasshoppers which are his favorite! We were all pretty exhausted by the time the party was said and done.

Today we went to church and out to breakfast. Megan got to blow out another candle at the restaurant. As I type this, the house is quiet and the sound of breathing fills the room with my 3 sleeping favorites ;)

Megan Faith, you are a miracle! We know the Lord blessed us with the gift of YOU! You are a happy, smiley baby girl who is growing up more and more everyday. If you are anything like your sister, you will be talking in no time! You are a cuddly and sweet child who is curious about the world. May the next year be filled with more firsts and happy moments. Mommy, Daddy, and Kelsey love and adore you to the moon and back billions of times. You are my Meggy-Boo and my heart swells with love for you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEGAN!
