Dance Pictures
Kelsey had dance pictures last weekend. Her costume is so C.U.T.E! Of course I had to doll her up :) She was pretty excited that I let her wear make-up, too :) We chatted about how she needed to smile when we got to pictures, and she definitely did not disappoint. This kid is a natural in front of the camera. She gave a big cheesy smile and looked adorable. I can't wait to see the professional results. For now, here are a few I took:
Of course I had to get some of this little cutie. Seriously, she is going to be 1 this weekend. I am so excited and a little sad at the same time. Oh geez, I better wait for the sentimental post until her birthday this weekend or the waterworks may not stop flowing.

Annual February Weekend
Every February we get together with my family to celebrate my niece and nephew's birthdays. My dad and Chris came and the girls and I met them at my brother's on Friday night. Matt had a football clinic so it worked out perfect that we could spend the night there. The girls all cuddled on the floor that evening and watched Rio. 
The adults stayed up and played cards. We even got my dad to stay up with us even though he was exhausted. Thanks for being a trooper, Dad! Saturday morning we went through more boxes from my parent's house. It amazes me that we are still going through boxes even though my mom died almost 11 years ago. And we still have more to go through. Going through the items brings back many memories. We tried to mostly smile through it all, but my eyes definitely welled with tears a few times. I never stop missing my matka. She would have loved this day, especially because we made paczki in the afternoon. Chris was awesome and made all the dough in the morning. Then, we went to watch Lauryn and Miranda dance while the dough rose. Mattey also joined us for the recital. When we got back to Brian's, we made the doughnuts. Everyone sort of has their job. Jolene and Dad made the chocolate ones, Brian and Rolf deep fried the paczki, and the rest of us filled with jelly and chocolate and covered with sugar or frosting. Oh, and we all took an equal part in taste-testing just to be sure they were turning out ;)
Later on, Lauryn and Soren opened presents and we all found room for cake and ice cream. It is crazy that those kiddos are 8 already! They are sure special to all of us! It was a fun, fun weekend with lots of stories, laughs, relaxing, and good company.
The only downfall was the girls got fevers on Sunday evening and were sick Monday and today. Hopefully they have shaken it and will be back to their bubbly selves tomorrow! They seemed much better today, so I think we are on the right track.

Happy Valentine's Day
How do we celebrate Valentine's Day?
The girls began by opening their present of books from us.
Then, Kelsey celebrated by taking her princess valentines and treats to daycare. Last night she took them to dance class so she had a little practice at what to do.
Megan had her first Valentine's Day! She got in on the daycare celebration as well.
Matt and I both had school. My first graders loved passing out valentines! They got so much candy they didn't know what to do with it all!
After school we looked through all of the girls' goodies. Then, Kelsey wanted to sit with Matt and do her "homework" which is writing in her activity books. The remainder of the evening was low key and very relaxing. I wouldn't have spent tonight any other way.
To my baby girls: Happy Valentine's Day loves! My heart swells with love for you!
To my hubby: You are amazing, and I hope you know how much I love you, not only today, but everyday.

11 months
Megan is 11 months! Next month will be her 1st birthday. OH MY! Talk about time flying! Here is what is new:
She holds the phone to her ear and says hi.
She can stand alone and has taken 1 step.
She plays peek-a-boo.
She waves and claps.
She gives 5.
She wants to eat table food and is starting to show less interest in baby food.
She is done nursing.
She understands the word no, and it does not make her happy.
She enjoys sitting on my lap and pressing the piano keys.
She is intrigued with Kelsey's vanity drawer that contains Kelsey's jewelry.
She likes to pull all the plastic baggies out of the box and leave them on the floor.
She likes to play in the cupboard with the towels and washclothes. She then drops them as she crawls like a trail to show where she has been.
She has 4 top teeth, but I think her first bottom tooth is cutting through now.
She is a cuddler and snuggles right in.
She follows Kelsey around and is always trying to keep up.

3 1/2 year old
Kelsey is 3 1/2! We love this girl so much and have enjoyed every second of watching her grow. She is such a sweet child with a great sense of humor. She absolutely loves to sing, dance, and perform. She has a great musical sense and can carry any tune. For instance, in church this morning she was singing right along with the melody but she did not know the words so she made up her own. The people around us found her quite amusing. She has a quick wit about her and does not miss a beat. Besides for being funny, she is also very sincere and loves with all her heart.She does such a good job saying her prayers. Before meals she always has to be the only one to say the prayer and Matt and I have to close our eyes with our hands folded. If we open our eyes, she tells us to close them and starts over. At night, she says her prayer and then gives special intentions for people. She also says goodnight to Grandma Sandy which melts my heart. She is a good girl . Plus, she is an amazing big sister to Megan and does such a good job playing with her, helping her, and watching out for her. Because Megan is always on the move, we try to keep all the doors upstairs closed to help keep Megan in one area. Kelsey has become obsessed with this and feels the need to keep the doors closed all the time, even if Megan is not crawling around. It has become so routine for her that as soon as a door is open, she is right there to close it for you or remind you to close it. It is a little over the top! We think part of it has to do with Kelsey being afraid of the dark. When the doors are closed, it is one less area that can be dark. Kelsey gets terrified of her closet at night and is equally as scared of being alone. We talk about it nightly, but she has not quite bought it yet. What she has bought into though is doing school at Mary's and getting ready for preschool. She loves to come home and tell us what she did during the day. We recently went to tour her preschool for next year, and she is really looking forward to it. She tells us, " When I'm 4 I get to go to preschool and when I'm 6 I get to go to kindergarten." She likes to know when things are going to happen. She has been asking about when she can get married. I told her when she is 25. Wouldn't you know that stuck in her mind, and now she tells me "I can get married when I'm 25." And from what I hear, that day comes quicker than you ever imagine. Therefore, we are going to enjoy this time with her being our little 3 1/2 year old.

Kelsey: Daddy, I want a mustache like you.
Daddy: Only boys have mustaches.
Kelsey:So that's why Mommy doesn't have one. Oh well! Then I guess I'll just have a milk mustache.
