Barbie and Ken
Kelsey's imagination is something else these days. She loves to play pretend and gets into full character. She even has Daddy playing along. Kelsey's newest playtime routine involves Daddy being Ken, Megan being Skipper, and Kelsey as the role of Barbie. She stays in character too and calls Matt "Ken". She also likes to play Ariel and Prince Erik, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip, and Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Oh, and who do I get to be? I usually get the flattering job of being the villain--Ursala, Maleficent, or Mother Gothel. She does usually find something a little nicer for Megan to be. Kelsey also likes to play store, restaurant, house, and her days of entertaining are pretty consistent. We get daily concerts. She likes watching The Sing-Off and X Factor and we have said many times how much more entertaining it is to watch Kelsey perform rather than the TV singers. Good thing for DVR so we can fast forward through all the garbage and just let her watch the singing parts. Our little Kelsey is one fun girl to be with :)
Culturefest
Last weekend the girls and I went to Culturefest in town. It was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. There was lots of authentic food, good music, a petting zoo, craft stations, and plenty of sunshine. Megan enjoyed her ride in the stroller while Kelsey and I explored. There were girls dressed in their Mexican quincenera dresses and Kelsey immediately thought they were princesses because they were wearing crowns. She had to get her picture with them. It was a fun event and a great Saturday outing.

3 years and 6 months
I mentioned in an earlier post that we had a photo shoot with the girls last weekend. It was a beautiful fall day and we ventured to a local park to test our photography skills. With such gorgeous little girls to take pics of it, it made it pretty easy on us. I finally got around to edited a few of the pics and I must say for using our tiny little camera, they turned out just great for 3 year and 6 month pics. Here are a few of my favorites....as you can tell, Kelsey has no problem in front of the camera, and it seems as though Megan is on the same track.

A Peek at the Week
With both Matt and I back to school, Mattey coaching football, and the girls at daycare, I am not sure where the days go sometimes. Last year I seemed to make Sunday my weekly post day. We'll see if that stays the same this year. Last weekend, Kelsey had a birthday party for her good friend, Ava. Megan and I were lucky enough to be able to join her and hang out for the afternoon. It was gorgeous outside, so we also played outside at home enjoying some of the last warm weather we will have.
Later that evening we went to see my friend Maggie in the hospital because she just had a baby girl. Megan is still so little in my mind, but she looked much bigger sitting next to a one day old baby. Bad me though, I did not take a picture!
Sunday we had Connor's birthday party. Hard to believe our oldest nephew is 8 years old! It was a Vikings/Twins party. Again, I did not take a picture. However, the girls did wear Vikings gear for Connor, so I know my sis-in-law got some pictures of them in purple ;)
The week was filled with dance class (which Kelsey did great at again), school work, football practice, and just the daily hub-bub which keeps it all interesting. Friday night rolled around in a flash and we attended the Huskies home opener. The weather was not the greatest and we had to bundle up to stay warm. Megan had on tights, socks, a short sleeve onesie, a long sleeve turtleneck onesie, a sweatshirt, a jacket, her hat and mittens, and had a blanket around her. She fell asleep early in the game so I was able to keep her blocked from the wind and she was one toasty camper. Kelsey was also bundled, although she was not a big fan of her mittens. The Huskies won again 34-6. Matt's brother Nate is helping out with the team this year too, so I got a picture of the brothers as well.
Yesterday we took the girls to a nearby park and attempted our own 6 month and 3 year photo shoot. I really wanted a fall themed picture this year since Kelsey's yearly pics are usually taken in the summer. Megan is not quite strong enough to sit up on her own yet, so the types of poses are pretty limited. Therefore, we thought we would try it ourselves and see what happened. I am very happy with the results. The pics turned out well and will be great until we get a professional one done in the spring when Megan is 1 and Kelsey is 3 1/2. Here is a sneak peek until I can get the others edited. I have to say, after trying this ourselves, it makes me have the itch to get a nicer camera.
Today is Sunday again and that means football in this house. We went to church and breakfast and now are home cheering on our respective teams. The girls are napping which means blog time :)
A few random new things with the girls:
*Kelsey says that she wants to marry Matt. I told her that I am married to Daddy though. She still is convinced she will marry Matt, but has also said that she would marry Uncle Matt instead.
*I laid Megan on our bed as I was putting away laundry and she got a little fussy. Kelsey comes in and says, "It's ok Megan. Princess Kelsey is here to save the day." Then she proceeded to "read" her a book. It was so sweet. Good thing I had my camera nearby to capture the moment.
*Megan has found her voice! She likes to scream and make a lot of noise at times. Today in church she was a little chatter box.
*Kelsey can recite the pledge of allegiance--yes, the entire thing. Mary said they have been working on it during preschool time. I asked her about it and she rambled the whole thing out.
*Megan has now tried sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, and peas. Her least favorite it peas. The others she seems to like just fine.
*Megan must have some movement of teeth in her mouth because she is constantly wanting to gnaw on something. However, no sign of anything yet. Just my motherly thought.
*When we were in the car last weekend we drove by a farm and Kelsey shouted out, "Oh my gosh, what stinks?!" Matt told her it was Mommy and she thought that was funny.
*Kelsey has learned a lot in her preschool program with Mary and comes home daily with something to show or talk about. We love it! We can also tell that she is getting daily exposure to tuning her fine motor skills because her coloring, cutting, and writing are improving tremendously. She is working so hard to stay in the lines and make her pictures neater. She also tries to write her name. She does ok with s and l, but the others are a little too tough on her own.
*Kelsey is wanting to learn how to tell time. She has a watch that she calls her "video watch" because it has digital numbers on it. Usually she tells us it is 5:30.

We Survived
Here we are on Friday evening, and we survived our first week back to school. There were some tired girls (including me) this week, but we made it. I missed the girls like crazy. Thankfully the first week of school is so busy and requires so much work that I was kept very busy and the days did go by as quickly as they could. I sure did snuggle my girls at night though. To add to the chaos, the girls and I went to Matt's football game tonight. It was an away game so we were lucky enough to have Mary join us. The Huskies stomped their opponent and now have a record of 2-0. I am glad we were able to go and support Mattey. What can we say? We Love the Coach! Before we left for the game, I attempted to have a quick photo shoot with the girls. Megan was not having it though. She was tired and ready for a nap, so this is the best picture I could get. However, I had to take it because it was her first of many, many football games to come. I wanted to take a picture after the game with our coach, but Megan fell asleep. Check back soon because I will get that picture this season sometime ;) And with that, I am off to get some zzzzzz's.

Farewell Summer Vacation, Hello Back to School
Gulp....It is time for this mama to head back to school. After 6 glorious months of being off with maternity leave and summer break combined, I am reentering the working world. There have been many, many tears shed over this. (Matt can confirm this. Poor guy has had to deal with one emotional wife.) I absolutely adored my time at home with my girls. I could so do the stay at home gig. However, I also know that teaching is my perfect job and it would be so hard to give that up, too. So, off to school I go.
Before we go back to school, we try to have one last hurrah together as a family. Kelsey wanted to play outside in the morning. So she and I played soccer and baseball, and she also rode her bike. Megan hung out with us outside and let Kelsey push her around in the stroller. In the afternoon we went to a playground. She was also excited to try and learn hopscotch. Afterward, we went to The Blast and got ice cream. We grilled out for supper and ended the evening with a game, books, and a movie.
Little Miss Kelsey also had something new to look forward to at daycare this fall--preschool in the morning. Mary follows a curriculum and does school in the mornings with the older kids. Kelsey is old enough now to participate, and she is so excited! She tells us how she gets to use her own scissors, glue stick, and colors. In Kelsey's words, "I go to puh-wee school". We are so excited for everything she will learn this year.

6 months
Half a year? Really? Megan is 6 months old today! As usual, it seems so hard to believe. Here's the latest:
*She weighs 13lbs. (6%) and is 25 1/2 inches long (51%)
*She can roll, but seems to prefer to get around by pivoting her body around in a circle while laying on her belly or back.
*She is a wiggle worm and we have to be careful where we set her down now due to her increased mobility.
*She likes to play in her saucer and pivots in there as well so she can try all the toys.
*She turns her head when you call her name and also seems to turn her head to figure out where sounds are coming from.
*She is still very ticklish and we can get her to full out belly laugh.
*Lately when she is fussy she will mumble what resembles ma-ma-ma....first words here we come :)
*She can sit up with assistance, but has not mastered it on her own yet.
*She likes to put her bottomr lip over her top and blow air to make a raspberry sound.
*Everything goes in her mouth.
*She has taken to the bottle again, although I continue to nurse her.
*We are moving onto baby food! She tried sweet potatoes and liked them :) Next up, squash!
